The suitability score is a 0–100 number generated automatically from a single public forecast model. It weighs things like wind, gusts, rain probability, temperature, cloud and visibility against the sport you picked, and applies caps when gusts or snow depth look severe. That is all it does.

It has real and important limits. In particular it does not know:

• Avalanche hazard — snow depth is an input, but snowpack stability is not modelled at all. Only SAIS can tell you that.
• Ground and underfoot conditions — verglas, water ice, deep heather, river levels, cornices and bog are not represented.
• The route itself — its difficulty, exposure, scrambling grade, navigational seriousness or escape options.
• Access — path closures, estate restrictions, stalking seasons, parking or public transport.
• You — your fitness, experience, skills, kit, group, or daylight needs. The same score means different things to different walkers.

Forecasts also get things wrong, and mountain weather changes faster than any model updates. Scores may be several hours old when you read them, and localised effects are invisible at forecast-grid resolution. Treat the score as one input among several, never as the deciding one.

You are solely responsible for deciding whether to go, where to go, and whether to turn back. That includes carrying appropriate navigation, clothing and safety equipment, knowing how to use it, and telling someone your plans. If you are new to the hills, seek instruction or go with someone experienced rather than relying on an app.

Nothing in FindMyHill is professional mountain guiding, instruction or weather advice, and it must not be used as a substitute for any of them.

FindMyHill is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that scores, forecasts, hill data, route links or any other content are accurate, complete, current or fit for any particular purpose. Data comes from third parties and may contain errors we do not control; see data & attributions. We may change, suspend or discontinue the service at any time.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any injury, death, loss or damage arising from your use of FindMyHill or from any decision you make in reliance on it, including decisions about whether or where to go into the hills.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Use FindMyHill lawfully and for its intended purpose. Do not attempt to disrupt the service, bypass its security, scrape it at scale, or resell its output. Please respect the licences of the underlying data sources if you build on the same data.

Keep your login details secure — you are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Profile → Delete account. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.

FindMyHill is currently free to use, with no subscription and no advertising. If that ever changes we will say so clearly before it affects you.

The app, its design and its scoring model are © 2026 FindMyHill. Hill and forecast data belong to their respective sources and are used under their licences.

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above, and continued use of the app means you accept the revised terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
